Hundreds of entries this year

Hundreds of Businesses from across Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly entered the 14 categories for the Cornwall Business Awards 2019. Content Marketing Cornwall is delighted to be part of client Unmanned Survey Solutions‘ success in achieving the final three for the Ambassador of the Year Award.

Unmanned Survey Solutions designs, builds and operates Unmanned Surface Vessels for marine, scientific, commercial and environmental industries across the globe.

For every category, there was only a few points difference between the top three, which is a credit to how many great companies we have in the local economy.”

Showdown Day

As a finalist business, USS’ Russel Jarvis, the Lead Design Engineer, along with Content Marketing Cornwall’s Lisa Woodruff, had to make a pitch for the top spot during Showdown Day. A panel quizzed them on their entry before the winners were announced at the awards night at St Mellion International Resort on 27th June. Here they were pipped to the winning spot by the School for Social Entrepreneurs.

Russel Jarvis, Lead Design Engineer at USS: “We were delighted to be finalists in Ambassador of the Year Award. We have pushed the boundaries for marine innovation in Cornwall, sold our products to the USA, Canadian Arctic and Saudi Arabia, and flown the flag for Cornwall’s Marine Tech abroad. It’s great recognition for our hard work.”

Now in their 14th year, the awards were presented across 16 different categories. The Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust was named as Business of the Year, following the first-ever public vote that saw 10,000 people choosing their favourite from the list of 38 finalists.
